Current Metal

“Earth Infernal” has been available since April 1, 2022. I like to play records a bit before writing them up.
This album’s 11 tracks are superb.
Highlights From Earth Infernal
Burning Portrait is Dorian Gray with politicians as the target of an eternal fall from grace.
Lyrics like:
Once you were revered by statesmen
And cardinals sought your advice
Your name was embossed on the lips of the great
And the good and the famous but oh what a price
[Pre-Chorus 2]
Now the paint is corrupted
It’s consuming your mind
Devouring itself and each principle
You left behind
The path of the just is doomed to end in eternal damnation!
Twelve Infernal Lords
Parliament’s House Of Lords are a minority who will inflict their malice upon the masses. Take a look at these words, the album title appears on this track.
Twelve evil men
Lords of an allegiance so fell
Sworn to misrule
An Earthly supreme court to Hell
Earth infernal, the infernal lords
We are twelve one and all
Earth infernal, the infernal lords
Twelve to rule over all
Rulers of the kind who’ll inflict
Poverty on every class
There is no escape from this unjust sysytem!
The album’s single, Second Sight warns of the rise of authoritaranism in democratic systems. Here is a sample:
You still think two and two is four then think again
You know it all still you’re not right
We trust in only the word of our anointed one
His information comes from second sight
From second sight, from second sight
From second sight
From righteous second sight
One of Satan’s best tracks!
The Agony & The Ecstasy Of Watain
The Agony & Ecstasy Of Watain” track listing 1. Ecstasies In Night Infinite 2. The Howling 3. Serimosa 4. Black Cunt 5. Leper’s Grace 6. Not Sun Nor Man Nor God 7. Before The Cataclysm 8. We Remain 9. Funeral Winter 10. Septentrion. Available April 29, 2022
Unrelenting in their attack the Swedish black metallers have ceated poetic lyrics with their best sonic display yet with “The Howling”:
In the lingering light of the primal fires
Through the din of all centuries past
A call to see, to learn, to know
So that fearless we may go
Beneath, beyond, behind, below
The howling
Can you hear it still?
The faint echo of the great war
The spectral tremor of the giant collapse
Of the primal scream and a severed dream
A scream in the night that lasts all men centuries through wars and famine. This is the stuff of black metal!
“We Remain” is as perfect as Watain gets with these lyrics:
On waves of wildest oceans borne
In roaring chant a song unheard
Thus was brought the lore, to havens far
The echo of the primal word
For what is truth but what we make it?
A tale deformed by wind and rain
By temple stone and eagеr flame
Concealed, in spirit. We Remain!
Let us all hope Watain does the same.
Classic Metal

Iron Maiden. Just Devil-May-Care.
It was released on 22 March 1982 in the United Kingdom by EMI Records and in the United States by Harvest and Capitol Records. The album was their first to feature vocalist Bruce Dickinson and their last with drummer Clive Burr.
The Number of the Beast was met with critical and commercial success, and became the band’s first album to top the UK Albums Chart and reach the top 40 of the US Billboard 200. The album produced the singles “Run to the Hills” and “The Number of the Beast“, the former of which became the band’s first top-ten UK single.
In America the Derek Riggs cover art enflamed religious groups who along with right wingers declared the album satanic. The title track which describes a fever dream of a witches and devil’s rituals did not curry any favor either.
However metalheads bought the record in such great numbers that Maiden were elevated to the status of true metal stars. Then new vocalist Bruce Dickinson was an instant smash. He earned the nickname, ‘air raid siren’ for his wailing vocals. The band got the nickname, “The Beast”
However, the albums boasted classic tracks like “Run To The Hills” , “The Prisoner” and “Hallowed Be Thy Name”.
Eventually the religious protests got out of hand in America with groups protesting their concerts. But today Iron Maiden are 14 albums on from this amazing record that they unleashed on March 22, 1982.
The current re-issue is a cassette version available since March 25, 2022.
